  • Bit wet in Sydney for the #SydneyDerby tonight!

  • Modric wins Ballon d’Or to cap brilliant 2018

Luka Modric has been crowned the winner of the Ballon d’Or, capping a wonderful 2018 for the Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder.

I’m not a big fan of Real Madrid, but I’d have Luka in any of my teams, i.e. Arsenal FC, Newcastle Jets FC, or even New Lambton FC!

  • Super City brush aside Jets

No Bruno, no worries. Melbourne City haven’t missed forward Bruno Fornaroli in a 3-0 defeat of Newcastle, earned with world-class finishes from Riley McGree and Luke Brattan.

City’s midfield controlled the game, their defenders marshalled Petratos and Vargas every time they touched the ball, and we really miss having other outlets up front…like an out and out striker

Trivago has admitted misleading Australian consumers with TV ads aired up to 400,000 times falsely claiming its highlighted deals were the “best price”.

Oops, that’s gonna cost a bit to settle…

  • C’mon Newcastle!

  • So I just heard the dumbest thing, apparently there’s a post going around Facebook that suggest the Muslims don’t have to pay council rates in Australia of they practice their religion more than 5 hours a day..

Sadly, 3 people I know, have shared the post. 😩

  • I’m so sick and tired of all the Usain Bolt in the A-League talk. Makes the A-League, and the Mariners, look like a circus. ⚽️

  • Jets vs Mariners, pre-season trial match

The Newcastle Jets played a decent game yesterday, against the Mariners, with it being a 2-2 draw.

Fairly positive football considering the recent loss of Joey Champness, and the lack of an out and out striker. It was also good to see the response to the Mariners scoring first, not only did they even the score up pretty quickly, they then went ahead and held the lead till very late in the game.

Ronny Vargas looked good, as did Dimi Petratos, Steven Ugarkovic, and Nikolai Toppor-Stanley. Noah James made some great saves, however, that first goal was a bit ordinary, but I’m sure he’ll learn from the experience.
