I’ve finally made the decision to archive my old matpacker.com blog and re-direct the domain name to my Micro.blog account. I’ve setup the Github mirroring, so I’ve always got that as a backup.

I may run a local install of WordPress on my laptop so that I can edit up the old posts, re-attach photos, etc. and then maybe import that to Micro.blog, however, that’s a long term project I can worry about later. I think the biggest issue will be fixing old blog posts where I had the photos hosted elsewhere, i.e. flickr, S3, etc. Pretty sure I still have all the images, but it’d be nice to consolidate them to a single location.

Ugh, I’m also supposed to be working while I’m doing this…

DNS propagation is such a random thing. I’ve had times where it took maybe 5 minutes for the new settings to resolve, other times I’ve waited more than 6 hours.

A Modern Flat-File CMS

So much frustration trying to work through a WordPress speed issue, think it’s a theme issue…still umming and ahhing about dumping WP altogether and just using Micro.blog. What to do, what to do? 🙇🏼‍♂️

Has anyone worked out a good way to display a gallery of images on their micro.blog? Is it possible to upload more than 1 image per post? @manton

Quite curious as to how micro.blog handles sharing a video from YouTube.

So, you have to grab the iframe embed code as the straight URL doesn’t parse like it does on say WordPress, Twitter, Facebook, etc. It also doesn’t show in the firehose feed, it’s only shown as a video on your custom domain, there’s not even a link or any reference to it on the main feed, feels like it should at least show a link or something.

Is anyone using Google Analytics on micro.blog? Can you use GA on micro.blog? @manton @macgenie

Giving micro.blog a new try, not that I really gave it an old try, but I’m feeling like this might be a better option than just running a WordPress installation… I’m also thinking about maybe integrating micro.blog with my WordPress install, however, I do like to use OwnYourSwarm and OwnYourGram, so maybe I need to think a little more about how all that should integrate together.

I frequently see these really long captions on Instagram, but I can’t seem to get it to work on my Instagram. I follow the rules of no spacing, no emojis after spaces, etc. but it just doesn’t seem to work properly for me.

Often I see people post long stories with paragraphs, actual paragraphs on an Instagram photo. Seriously, how does that even work, and why wouldn’t Instagram just let us post proper stories as our captions, they hide it all behind a “more” link anyway, why not support it out of the box instead?

Instagram has been weird for me the last 24 hours. I posted this photo with a description, the description deleted as soon as the image was live, then I started getting the dreaded “there’s a link in your post” error. The wasn’t any links in the post, there wasn’t even an emoji in the post. No idea what was going on. This morning I did some research, nothing conclusive as to what was causing the problem, so I tried liking a post from Instagram on my iPad, it worked…weird. So then I deleted Instagram from my iPhone, reinstalled it, and now I can like people photos again. It’s yet to be confirmed if I can edit / post a caption on this photo though…here goes nothing
